By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a notorious vandal, Samson Ayodele, for destroying electricity transformer installations across the state.

Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said Ayodele, a resident of Egbe, Kogi State, was caught by Eruku Division officers on November 3, 2025, while vandalizing a transformer supplying power to Koro Town, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State.

Recovered items include copper wires, aluminum cables, bolts, nuts, and a bag of tools. Ayodele confessed to the crime and admitted he had previously served a jail term in Kogi for similar offences.

CP Adekimi Ojo commended the vigilance of IBEDC staff and the swift police response. He vowed that the command would continue protecting public infrastructure and warned that vandalism would not be tolerated.

The Commissioner urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities around public utilities, stressing that community cooperation is vital to safeguarding essential services.
