By Sadiq Aminu                                                    Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has pledged to ensure the consistent and timely settlement of the substantial backlog of monthly salaries, arrears, and other entitlements owed to the state’s employees by previous administrations.

The Governor made the pledge in Abuja during an interview with State House correspondents after his meeting with President Tinubu.

He explained that his administration had inherited 359 billion Naira wage bill, describing it as a substantial financial burden on the state.

Governor Alia said his administration had been engaged in negotiations to restructure the debts and place the state on a more sustainable financial path for future development.

He also said the government was committed to rehabilitating important roads under the jurisdiction of the state to ease the hardship being faced.

Governor Alia stressed that his government had been actively involved in Federal Government’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the state and enhance agricultural and other business activities.
