DEFENCE MINISTER, AIR CHIEF ARRIVES TURKEY TO FACILITATE SPEEDY DELIVERY OF ATTACK HELICOPTERS 29-10-23
By Sadiq Aminu Defence Minister, Dr Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar have arrived Turkey to facilitate the speedy delivery of the T-129 ATAK helicopters acquired for NAF by the Federal Government.
According to a statement by Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet says on the sidelines of the visit, the Minister held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Lt General Yasar Guler(rtd) on critical bilateral and defence co-operation issues.
General Guler(rtd) assured the Minister of every support required from the Turkish military defence companies to further strengthen and accelerate the defeat of terrorism and other criminal challenges facing Nigeria.
The Minister and the Air Chief also visited some selected Turkish companies, including Turkish Aerospace industries, MKE, Aselsan and Roketsan who are among highly rated global defence companies renowned for the production of quality defence and military equipment.
While at the companies, Dr Badaru Abubakar solicited for improved synergy between the companies and Nigeria through transfer of defence technology to Nigeria.
Recall that that the Federal Government procured 6 T-129 ATAK helicopters from Turkish Aerospace industry, out of which 2 are to be delivered to the NAF in the coming weeks, while the remaining helicopters are expected before the end of second quarter of 2024.
