DELTA STATE GOVERNOR ASSURES INDIGENES OF OKUAMA COMMUNITY OF SAFE RETURN 20-04-24
By Sadiq Aminu Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has given an assurance for the safe return of the indigenes who fled Okuama community in the wake of the crisis over the killing of seventeen officers and soldiers last month.
The Governor, stated this when he visited the community in company of the Commander, Sixty Three Brigade, Brigadier General Unachukwu Ugochukwu, and top government officials.
He said innocent citizens would not be made to suffer for what they knew nothing about.
Governor Oborevwori said his administration had followed due process in the whole incident, and that the slain military personnel had been buried and, also the King that was detained had been released.
The Delta State Governor who expressed sadness over the brutal incident, noted that the State had been enjoying peace and security since last year until the 14th of March when the four Army officers and thirteen soldiers were murdered, and their bodies were mutilated .
He reiterated that President Bola Tinubu had promised that no innocent person would be victimised, stressing that from that time till now, there had been no harassment of citizens of the community.
Governor Oborevwori said his visit was to see how the innocent people of the community could be reintegrated back with the cooperation of the military.
He said his administration was doing a lot to effectively resolve the dispute.
The Delta State Governor thanked the President and Commander in Chief, Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff for their cooperation so far.
