NSA SAYS SECURITY AGENCIES FULLY MOBILIZED FOR PEACE FULL OFF CYCLE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN KOGI, BAYELSA AND IMO STATES                                                                          27-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu says all security agencies have been adequately mobilized to ensure the safety of citizens and other logistics during the forthcoming off cycle Governorship election in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states.

Speaking in Abuja during the Inter Agency Consultative Committee On Election Security Mallam Nuhu Ribadu explained that the security would carry out the assignment professionally

The National Security Adviser explained President Bola Tinubu has directed that the election must be conducted without interference in the Three States.

He commended the level of preparation by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and pledged support for conducive environment for a hitch free polls.

INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stressed the need for the Eighteen participating political parties to call their supporters to order.

Professor Yakubu said the Commission would not tolerate violence and other undemocratic activities such as vote buying, attacks on election officials and disruption of electoral process.

He appealed to security agencies to take decisive action against perpetrators of electoral violence .

”This according to him is the only way to guarantee a safe environment for peaceful conduct of election and electoral activities”
The Inspector General of Police ,Kayode Egbetokun said that they had received necessary information from INEC that would assist them in deploying personnel to the three States.
The Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa said they would provide comprehensive support to the police as the lead agency in election security to perform their duty without interference.
