MAMMAN TUGGER TO LEAD HIGH-LEVEL VISIT TO THE UK                                                                                        03-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                        The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, is set to embark on a high-level working visit to the United Kingdom.

The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and boost strategic cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, technology, media, and academia.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister will deliver a speech at Chatham House, where he will discuss Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy and global aspirations.

He will also participate in a high-level roundtable at the House of Commons, focusing on economic diversification, investment opportunities, and digital transformation.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Tuggar will engage with top media stakeholders at the BBC House in London to highlight Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities.

He will also meet with financial institutions, including JP Morgan and British International Investment, to explore opportunities for investment and economic cooperation.

The Minister is also expected to hold bilateral talks with senior UK government officials, including representatives from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Discussions will cover security cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and expanding business and investment opportunities to support Nigeria’s economic growth.

In further recognition of Nigeria’s commitment to education and research, Ambassador Tuggar will engage with the African Centre and the University of Cambridge. The discussions will focus on strengthening academic partnerships and capacity building.

The visit, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy agenda, is expected to enhance Nigeria’s global positioning and deepen its long-standing ties with the UK.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the engagements will translate into tangible benefits for national security, economic development, and regional stability.
