FEC APPROVES THE ISSUANCE OF PROVISIONAL LICENCES TO 11 NEW PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES                                                                                         03-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Minister of Education, Dr. Murufu Olatunji Alausa, who stated this in Abuja, said several of the applications had been pending for over three and a half years.

He explained that the approval was sequel to President Tinubu’s resolve to expanding human capital development.

The Minister said the President thus mandated the Ministry to urgently review the applications and take appropriate actions on them.

The affected universities are New City University, Ayetoro Ogun State, University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, Eranova University, Mabushi, Abuja, and Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annex.

Others are Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State, Southern Atlantic University Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Lens University, Ilemona, Kwara State, and Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State.

The rest are Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City, Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos, and Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State.

He said the government had also issued a moratorium for all new universities that would meet
the legal requirements of the National University Commission.
