TWO DEAD AFTER FATAL PIT LATRINE ACCIDENT IN IN KANO’S ALBASU LGA                                                                24-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       Residents of Bazabe Quarters in Albasu Local Government Area were thrown into mourning after two men, Usman Muhammad and Ibrahim Inuwa, tragically lost their lives in a pit latrine accident.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to journalists.

According to him, the Takai Fire Service Station received a distress call from Inspector Auwalu, regarding a pit latrine tragedy.

He pointed out that a rescue team was immediately mobilized to the scene.

Saminu explained that on arrival the team discovered that a 40-year-old Usman Muhammad had accidentally dropped his phone into a pit latrine and went in to retrieve it.

He noted that his friend Ibrahim Inuwa, followed in an attempt to rescue Usman by tying a rope around him.

“Ibrahim also lost consciousness while inside the pit”

“Our men rushed to the scene and successfully rescued both men, but they were found unconscious and later confirmed dead,”

Similarly a 33-year-old man, Muhammad Sagir, lost his life after falling into a dry well at Kawon Alhaji Sani Layin Mai, Nasarawa LGA.

The public relations officer noted that rescue officers from the Fire Service Headquarters were dispatched immediately to the scene and retrieved Sagir from the well unconscious.

“His body was subsequently handed over to the ward head of Kawon Arewa, Alh. Hamisu”

The public relations officer called on the public to always prioritize safety and report emergencies to the nearest fire service office or through its 24-hour hotline.
