KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES 2024 BECE FEES FOR 55,150 CANDIDATES                                                                                                       22-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        Kwara State Government has approved subsidisation of the cost of 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, for students in public schools across the state.

A total of Fifty-five Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty candidates are writing the examinations in the State.

The State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in a statement issued by the Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, explained that all the candidates in public schools will pay N2,500, the same amount charged last year — instead of N5,000 or more.

According to the statement, the subsidy is part of the efforts of the administration to support the students and their parents, as well as avoid any student dropping out of school on account of the inability to afford the examination.

The statement, therefore, warns public officials against extorting money from parents under any guises, noting that anyone caught will face the consequences of such action.
