The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, has called on the Federal Government to prioritise equal access to quality education for girls to help them achieve their full potential.
Udeze made the call in a goodwill message marking the International Day of the Girl Child, urging parents, teachers and community leaders to protect girls’ rights and promote their empowerment.
He stressed the need to address discrimination, violence, sexual abuse and inequality, while advocating stronger laws and more opportunities to help girls develop their talents.
The Speaker also commended the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, for her campaign against the abuse, exploitation and dehumanisation of girls.
He said investing in girls’ education, safety and well-being would help build a more educated, confident and productive society.
