The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that all 25 people on board an ATR 42 aircraft, NAF 931, died in a crash in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The aircraft, which had five crew members and 20 passengers, was on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, expressed condolences to the families and colleagues of the victims, describing the incident as a painful loss to the Nigerian Air Force and the country.
The NAF said search-and-rescue operations were immediately activated in collaboration with relevant authorities, but no survivors were found.
A comprehensive investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash. The Air Force also urged the public to avoid speculation and the circulation of unverified information as the investigation continues.
A condolence register has been opened at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja for government officials, security agencies, members of the diplomatic corps and other well-wishers to pay their respects.
