By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has presented printed IREV copies of affected pooling units in Lafia Local Government Area and other documents to the Nasarawa State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Lafia.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi had earlier ordered the commission to tender some sensitive documents used in the March 18 governorship election in the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party PDP and its governorship candidate, David Emmanuel Ombugadu.

On resumption of hearing, representative of the INEC Director, Information, Communication and Technology, ICT Mr. Ama Ibom presented documents requested by the tribunal.
Lead counsel of the PDP Samuel Okutepa (SAN) thereafter applied to tender the documents to support its petition.

He appealed to the tribunal to grant his request for the last star witness that testify to enable him closehis case.

However, Counsels to INEC, APC and Governor Abdullahi Sule informed the tribunal that they have reserved their responses for the written address even as they objected to the admissibility of the documents.

Justice Ezekiel Ajayi after listening to all the parties adjourned the sitting to tomorrow for continuation of hearing.

Some of the documents tendered includes Form EC 8A which is result sheets of pooling units for the 13 LGAs in Nasarawa state, manual, Regulations and Guidelines for the conduct of 2023 General Elections duly and copy of Form EC 8B containing result sheet of electoral wards in the state.
