KANO STATE SET TO HOST EDUCATION RECOVERY CONFERENCE                                                                                                             06-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                     Kano state government KNSG with the support of the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) in Nigeria and Arewa Consultative Forum, is organizing an education recovery conference on July 10th and 11th, 2024.

In a statement signed by the special adviser to Kano state governor on education Alhaji Tajuddeen Gambo who doubles as Chairman, Education Recovery Conference Planning Committee and made available to journalists.

He explained that the conference will bring together influential figures such as thought leaders, politicians, diplomats, educators, private sector representatives, advocates, and policy makers to focus on addressing major challenges in the education sector in Kano State.

The chairman stressed that the conference is themed “Repositioning Education in Kano State: Navigating the Path to Excellence.”

He highlighted that the goal is to tackle issues related to education access and equity, develop a plan for reform, and build partnerships to transform the education system in Kano State.

“Stakeholders will collaborate to identify sustainable solutions that can improve the quality of education in the state and ensure that all children have access to education”

Alhaji Tajuddeen pointed out that Kano State, like many other parts of Nigeria, is facing significant challenges in its education sector, saying that There are currently over 9 million out-of-school children in Nigeria.
“and Kano State has a large number of these children.”

“Therefore, addressing these challenges in Kano is crucial for the success of the ‘Education for Renewed Hope Agenda”

The chairman hinted that “KNSG has shown a commitment to addressing these challenges by declaring a state of emergency in the education sector. The Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated plans to renovate primary and junior secondary schools, provide support to teachers, promote girl-child education, and implement other interventions to improve the quality of education in the state”

“The proposed conference aims to provide a platform for discussions on education access, quality, and equity in Kano State. It will include keynote speeches, paper presentations, group discussions, and breakout sessions to address different challenges in an interactive and inclusive manner.

“Through this conference, the government hopes to kickstart the journey towards quality and accessible education in Kano State”
