NSCDC IN ANAMBRA STATE ARRESTS AN IMPERSONATOR OF THE CORPS                                                                                               16-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr Maku Olatunde who paraded the suspect at the command’s headquarters in Awka, cautioned members of the public to be vigilant and exercise discernment when approached by anyone claiming to be a Civil Defence officer.

He explained that the suspect was impersonating as a Civil Defence officer to deceive, extort and commit fraudulent activities on unsuspecting citizens in the State.

The NSCDC boss in the state, said the suspect was arrested following a credible intelligence by his officers and men at popular Arroma junction in Awka.

Mr Olatunde gave the name of the suspect as Emmanuel Oche, aged fifty five, from Agila Town in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State who was dressed in an NSCDC uniform.

He pointed out that preliminary investigation revealed that Emmanuel Oche used his fake Civil Defence officer status to intimidate and exploit innocent victims.

Mr Olatunde said, Oche confessed to buying the NSCDC uniform from a second-hand cloth seller in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of the State, revealing the extent of his deceitful tactics.

In a release, the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Mr Edwin Okadigbo said, Mr Olatunde noted that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
