TINUBU LAUNCHES BLUE ECONOMY PLAN TO BOOST NIGERIA’S MARITIME WEALTH

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a new framework to harness Nigeria’s marine resources, aiming to drive economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen security. Speaking at a NIPSS event, he highlighted plans to expand aquaculture, modernize ports, boost coastal tourism, and explore marine energy.

He directed NIPSS to conduct a nationwide security review to tackle piracy, illegal fishing, smuggling, and other threats that undermine maritime investments. The President also stressed swift implementation of NIPSS recommendations to turn Nigeria’s coastline, fisheries, and waterways into engines of sustainable prosperity.
