KANO ASSEMBLY ORDERS PROBE OF LG SECURITY FUNDS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State House of Assembly has ordered an investigation into the use of security funds by the 44 local government councils following rising bandit attacks in parts of the state.

The resolution followed concerns over a deadly attack in Yan Kamaye community, Tsanyawa Local Government Area, where suspected bandits reportedly killed several residents.

The Assembly directed its House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the utilisation of the funds and submit its report within two weeks.

Lawmakers also called for stronger support for security agencies and urgent measures to curb the growing insecurity.
