PRESIDENT TINUBU DIRECTS CUSTOM TO DISPOSE SEIZES FOOD ITEMS TO VULNERABLE NIGERIANS                                                                                   05-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Nigeria Customs Service to disposed Food items seized for direct sale to vulnerable Nigerians.
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service. Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, made this known during sectoral Debate by the House of Representatives.
The Sectoral debate is for the Heads of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to inform Nigerians their efforts in addressing some critical issues confronting the nation.
The Debate was to ascertain the efforts by relevant agencies in addressing challenges of food security in Nigeria.
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service Bashir Adewale Adeniyi who emphasized that food security has been a major mandate of the service, said 120 trucks with food items have been seized in border communities in Nigeria. The Minister of Agriculture Senator Abubakar Kyari explained that as part of effort to boost food production, President Tinubu’s administration signed an MOU with Foreign partners to acquire two thousand tractors each year for the next five years.
The Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Mr. Benjamin Kalu who presided over the plenary pointed out that there has been growing concerns about food security despite the country’s potential
Before the sectoral Debate the House received some Petitions and urgent motions of public importance on the need to investigate some Crypto currency platforms in Nigeria.
