ZAMFARA, UNICEF TO VACCINATE 1.2M CHILDREN IN STATEWIDE CAMPAIGN

The Zamfara State Government, in partnership with UNICEF, is set to vaccinate 1.2 million children in an integrated campaign across the state.

Dr. Hussaini Yakubu Anka, Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Board, said the exercise targets vaccine-preventable diseases like polio and rubella while also addressing malnutrition. Nearly 2,000 trained teams will cover all 147 wards to ensure wide reach.

Dr. Anka noted some resistance in communities and private schools due to low awareness, urging parents, school authorities, and community leaders to support the initiative. He also thanked Governor Dauda Lawal, UNICEF, and development partners for their backing.
