GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE LAUNCHES THE “FARM TO FEED CAMPAIGN” INITIATIVE TO BOOST FOOD SUFFICIENCY                                                                                                    04-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                      Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has launched the “Farm To Feed Campaign” initiative as part of his administration’s efforts to boost food sufficiency in the country.

The campaign which aims at encouraging and mobilizing people of Anambra State on the imperative to venture into farming was launched at a farm in Amansea, Awka North local government area.

Addressing the people, Governor Soludo revealed that the initiative was one of the positive steps in the midst of the dwindling economy to move the state and country forward.

Governor Soludo while acknowledging the ongoing hunger protest in the country thanked the Anambra Youth who turned out for the launch adding that the move was a.partnership deal to end hunger within the next 12 months.

The Governor recalled that his administration had already distributed over one million palm and coconut seedlings, with a target of ten million seedlings before the end of his administration.

He expressed readiness to collaborate with organisations and work out schemes, saying that soon, his administration would celebrate the farm champions.

For his part, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Doctor Forster Ihejiofor thanked the Governor on his passion to revamp the agricultural sector of the state as well as thinking through the challenges of the times, that is in line with the solution agenda.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Head of Service, Mrs Theodora Igwegbe, Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, among others, told stories of how their farm efforts were progressive.

Africa247 Correspondent reports that the event featured the symbolic planting and distribution of seeds by the Governor assisted by his wife.
