WOMEN PROTEST ECONOMIC HARDSHIP IN ONDO STATE                                                                                                                                22-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Some women have staged a peaceful protest to the governor’s office in Akure, Ondo state over the current economic hardship in the country.

The women, some of whom were widows and had their babies strapped to their back lamented that they could no longer feed their family or fund their children’s education due to the level of poverty in the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mrs Folashade Adewumi called on both Ondo state and federal governments to consider women, especially widows, for soft loans and palliatives while also ensuring transparency in the intervention programmes.

Addressing the women, Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on political and public policy, Mr Ademola Adewale assured them that the governor had women in his administration’s plan and would not neglect them at any point.

Mr Adewale, who commended the women for the peaceful protest, said their demands would be addressed appropriately to ameliorate their challenges.
