ZAMFARA STATE MARKS ONE YEAR WITHOUT INCIDENCE OF POLIO VIRUS 11-10-24
By Sadiq Aminu Zamfara State government says, the state has not recorded any polio virus case in one year.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aisha Anka announced this at a one-day Town Hall Meeting on the Upcoming Integration Measles Vaccination Campaign in Gusau.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Bashir Surajo Gusau said the success was as a result of all stakeholders’ collaborative efforts in routine immunisation.
Dr. Aisha Anka commended WHO, UNICEF, and other Non governmental organisations for their support, revealing that without their support the successes could not be accomplish.
She stressed that, the state government would do everything possible to eradicate polio and measles to 60% by the end of 2025.
The Commissioner called on all stakeholders to work together to fulfil Governor Dauda Lawal’s Health Sector Agenda.
The Coordinator of WHO in Zamfara State, Dr Raji pledged the WHO’s support and urge the state government to ensure all the targeted population are reached especially those in underserved area who are most vulnerable at risk of the disease to prevent outbreaks of measles in the state in 2025.
