TIMILEHIN AJAYI, THE SUSPECTED KILLER OF NYSC MEMBER SALOME ADAIDU, PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO A ONE COUNT CHARGE OF CULPABLE HOMICIDE                                                                                                                 27-01-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Timilehin Ajayi, the suspected killer of a National Youth Service Corps NYSC corps member Salome Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty to a one count charge of culpable homicide punishable with death brought against him before a Lafia High court presided by justice Simon Aboki

On the seventeenth of this month, Timilehin Ajayi was remanded at a Correctional Centre in Lafia after his first appearance in court on one count charge of culpable homicide brought against him by the Nasarawa State police command for allegedly killing Salome Adaidu, a corp member who was serving at NICON Insurance in Abuja.

The thirty-two Years gospel singer appeared before Justice Simon Aboki and pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

When the case came up, prosecution counsel from the legal department of the State police command, Stanley Nwafor-Agu told the court that the command had overwhelming evidence to sustain the charge brought against the suspect.

The defence counsel Joseph Tukur on his part, stressed the need for due process to be followed in the prosecution of Timilehin Ajayi to uphold the rule of law.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN Jibrin Okutepa in an interview with newsmen after the court sitting, stated that he and others were interested in the matter on behalf of the deceased family to ensure that justice is served.

Justice Simon Aboki however adjourned the case to the seventeenth and twentieth of March for accelerated hearing of the matter.

Timilehin Ajayi was on twelfth of this month, arrested with a polythene bag containing the dismembered body of Salome Adaidu whom he claimed was his girlfriend.
