SSANU CALLS ON THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS TO ADDRESS THE SHORTFALLS AND INCONSISTENCIES IN PAYMENT OF THIRD-PARTY DEDUCTIONS                                                                                                                10-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                         The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), has called on the federal and state governments to address the shortfalls and inconsistencies in payment of third-party deductions in the salaries of university lecturers.

The National President of SSANU, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim stated this at the end of 50th National Executive Council of the Union in Bayelsa.

Comrade Haruna explained that the shortfalls in their salaries was a flagrant disobedience of Financial Regulations.

Comrade Ibrahim urged the state governments to look into the taxes on various goods and services affecting the worker’s meagre salaries through the pay as you earn (PAYE) tax.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities also expressed displeasure over the continuous delay in the release of Fifty (50) Billion naira for the payment of Earned and other allowances which was appropriated in the 2023 Supplementary Budget.

The Union commends the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration for paying two (2) months out of the four (4) months withheld salaries.
