HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE PASSES FOR SECOND READING A BILL FOR ALL ELECTIONS TO BE CONDUCTED THE SAME DAY                                                                                                                   25-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                     The House of Representatives has passed for a second reading, a Bill for the conduct of Elections to the Office of the President, State Governors,
National Assembly, State Houses of Assembly and Local Government Area Councils on the same day.

The Bill Sponsored by Ikenga Ugochinyere and 34 others, provide for an Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to determine the Conduct of elections into various elective positions simultaneously on the same day.

The Reps also passed for second reading a Bill that empowers the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to Conduct Local Government Area Council Elections.
The Bills were among the 39 Bills passed by the Green Chamber to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.
The Bills were referred to Constitutional Review Committee for further legislative action.
