COURT SHIFTS HEARING IN SUIT TO DEREGISTER ADC, OTHERS TO MAY 5

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a suit seeking the deregistration of several political parties to May 5.

Justice Peter Lifu fixed the date after granting an amendment to include more parties in the case filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators over alleged constitutional breaches.

The court directed all parties to file their responses promptly, stressing the urgency of the matter ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections. The suit also seeks to compel Independent National Electoral Commission to enforce compliance with party regulations.
