TWO REMANDED FOR VIOLATING KWARA SANITATION EXERCISE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

A mobile court in Ilorin has remanded two residents at the Oke-Kura Correctional Centre for violating Kwara State’s monthly environmental sanitation regulations.

The defendants were arrested during the statewide sanitation exercise for allegedly moving around during restricted hours instead of participating in the mandatory cleanup.

The court found them guilty and offered each a ₦2,000 fine or a custodial sentence. The two, however, declined to pay the fine and were remanded at the correctional centre.

Authorities said the enforcement is part of efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and warned residents to comply with sanitation regulations or face prosecution.
