Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers abducted by suspected ISWAP terrorists during an attack on a secondary school in Lassa, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The victims were rescued unharmed after troops, supported by air surveillance, engaged the fleeing terrorists in a gun battle around Daggu.
The military said one victim remains in captivity, while efforts are ongoing to secure the person’s release. Several terrorists were neutralised, and seven motorcycles used by the insurgents were recovered.
A soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed during the operation.
The military said security has been reinforced in the affected communities as troops continue operations to track down the attackers and prevent further attacks.
