POLICE ARREST MAN OVER MOTHER’S ALLEGED MURDER IN ABIA

The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Livingstone Iheanacho, over the alleged murder of his mother, Mrs Nwikpa Iheanacho, in Osaa Ukwu, Obingwa Local Government Area.
The victim was reportedly carrying out household chores when her son allegedly attacked her with a machete, resulting in her death.
Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said officers from the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters responded to a distress call and found the woman lifeless.
Chinaka said a medical professional confirmed the death, after which the body was deposited at a morgue.
She added that the suspect, who was reportedly at risk of being attacked by a mob, was rescued by the police and taken into custody.
The police said investigation into the incident is ongoing.
