The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has challenged Vice President Kashim Shettima’s claim that President Bola Tinubu saved Nigeria from economic collapse.
In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the council said Shettima’s reference to Nigeria heading towards “Caracas” before Tinubu took office was linked to the period when the country was governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ologbondiyan argued that the APC cannot distance itself from the country’s economic record, noting that Tinubu had previously pledged to build on Buhari’s legacy.
The council also expressed concern over the rising cost of living, poor infrastructure, electricity challenges and the condition of public institutions. It said the immediate priority for Nigerians remains access to affordable food and basic necessities.
The ADC campaign council maintained that the party would provide a credible political alternative and work towards making life more affordable and restoring economic stability.
