WORLD POST DAY: NIPOST DEVELOPES BUILDING ADDRESS VERIFICATION SYSTEM                                                                                                                09-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                            The Federal Government says it has developed a building Address Verification System, AVS to support national excercise and to enhance public security in the country.

The Post Master General of the Federation, Mr Sunday Adepoju stated this in a message on World Post Day.

Mr Adepoju said the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST was working in collaboration with the National Population Commission (NPC), National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and other partners to ensure consistency in the nation’s address related database as a basis for effective public security services.

The Post Master General said through the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government has prioritized the enhancement of the postal sector for Job creation and grassroots development.

Mr Sunday Adepoju said as Nigeria joins over 192 countries to mark World Post Day with the theme, “Together for trust” it is a call to action for various governments to support the digital development of their postal operators and to celebrate postal workers as agents of grassroots development and mobilisation.

Also in a statement, the Director General of the Universal Postal Union, UPU, Mr Masahiko Metoki had called for the utilisation of postal resources through out the globe to enhance access to financial and social services

The World Post Day was first celebrated in 1874 following the Universal Postal Union, UPU conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
