NIGERIAN ARMY LAUNCHES AN OPERATION CODENAMED “EXERCISE STILL WATER 3” IN IBAFO, OGUN STATE                                                            11-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The Nigerian Army has launched an operation codenamed “Exercise Still Water 3” in Ibafo, Ògún State, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, to intensify security and surveillance operations in the 81 Division Area of Responsibility.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoheed Lagbaja, inaugurated the operation in the newly-established Super Camp in Ibafo.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoheed Lagbaja said that Exercise Still Water 3 was not a mere drill, but a real-life military operation with robust Rules of Engagement tailored to address contemporary security challenges in the South-South and South-West regions.
The Army Chief noted that these regions faced threats such as piracy, illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, cultism, militancy, and other related crimes, which posed a danger to collective peace and economic activities.

Lieutenant-General Lagbaja stressed that the Nigerian Army would conduct two additional exercises alongside Exercise Still Water 3 namely, Exercise Enduring Peace 3 in the North-Central states of Benue, Kogi, and Nasarawa, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, and Exercise Golden Dawn 2 in the South East zone to create a conducive environment for socio-economic activities during the last quarter of the year.

In his address of welcome, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Mohammed Usman said the collaboration among the 81 Division troops, sister services and personnel of other security agencies would ensure successful execution and attainment of the objective of the exercise by flushing out criminals from their hideouts.

The Forward Operation Base in Ibafo has personnel of the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, the Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Immigration Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Correctional Service, and state security agencies.
