WAEC NIGERIA TO CONDUCT COMPUTER BASED WASSCE FOR
PRIVATE CANDIDATES                                                                                   14-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                         The Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC says plans have been concluded to migrate it’s examination for private candidates from paper and pencil to computer-based, in line with global best practices.

A statement by the Council explains that while the Objective Tests will be fully Computer Based, the Essay and Test of Practical papers will be hybrid, in which the examination questions will be delivered on screen and candidates required to write answers on the answer booklets given to them.

It says the examination will be conducted in urban centres and candidates with special needs have been factored into the plan.

It states that to enable candidates to familiarise themselves with the new examination platform, a Mock Examination will be conducted before the examination.

According to the statement, the innovation is to commence in February next year.
