By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Nigerian Army has commenced a special security operation in the south east codenamed “Exercise Golden Dawn Three” aimed at guaranteeing safety of lives and property during and after the yuletide.

At the launch of the Operation in Owerri, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada said the military were determined to end the nefarious activities of secessionists, fight kidnapping, combat robbery, cultism and oil bunkering in the zone.

General Dada while assuring the people of the south east of adequate security during the Christmas and New Year festivities warned that his men were ready to deal with anyone that would want to test their might by engaging in any form of crime.

The Imo State Governor Chief Hope Uzodimma described the operation as apt, noting that his administration would continue to accord priority to protection of lives and property of law-abiding citizens.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor Professor Placid Njoku commended the military for being proactive in fighting insecurity in the state and reassured the commitment of the government to support security agencies in their operations.

Correspondent Chinazo Ilechukwu reports that the “Exercise Golden Dawn Three” has replaced “Operation Udoka” which functioned in the months of September, October and November 2023.
