INEC DECLARES IFEANYI UZOKWE OF YPP, WINNER OF NNEWI NORTH, NNEWI SOUTH AND EKWUSIGO  CONSTITUENCY                                                      05-02-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Mr Ifeanyi Uzokwe of the YPP, winner of the election for NNEWI North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

This followed the conclusion of the rerun election in five polling units as directed by the court earlier.

The returning officer for the election, Mr Charles Nweke announced that the YPP candidate , Mr Ifeanyi Uzokwe .polled Twenty five thousand ., five hundred and Eighteen votes ( 24,518) to defeat his closest rival, Mr Uchenna Eleodimmuo.of the APGA who got Twenty five thousand four hundred and twelve .

The winner, Mr Uzokwe who described the exercise as transparent thanked his supporters for believing in him, promising that his major aim was to attract more dividends of democracy down to the grassroots .

In an interview shortly after the declaration, the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Ifeanyi Uba commended the Electoral umpire for conducting a credible election for the people and exhibiting professionalism during the exercise.

Senator Uba also extolled the security operatives for providing an enabling environment for a peaceful election to thrive.

Africa 247 correspondent Sadiq Aminu reports that agents of the contending political parties including APGA, APC, among others, signed the result sheet before it was announced.
