NEDC DONATES FARM INPUTS TO GOMBE STATE GOVERNMENT                                                                                 05-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated farm inputs and implements to Gombe state government to boost dry season farming in the state.

Africa 247 reports that the items donated included 500 water pumps, 5000 litres of liquid Urea and Agrochemicals

Ag. Gombe State Coordinator NEDC, Alh. Rufa’i Baba-Manu said the distribution of the items by the commission aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of boosting food production and addressing food insecurity in the country.

He said the commission was collaborating with the state government in order to reach the target beneficiaries.

Alh. Rufa’i Baba-Manu called on the target beneficiaries to take the gesture as a rare priviledge and utilised the items for the purpose it was meant for.

He said the Commission also extended the gesture to the three-senatorial district in the state through the senators.

Receiving the items Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Barnabas Malle lauded the gesture, adding that the inputs and implements would impact on crop production in the state.

Represented by an official of the Ministry Mr.Jonathan Bulus said the items received were water pumps, Agrochemicals, Urea, liquid fertilizer and herbicides.

He said the gesture was coming at the right time, considering the fact that Gombe is an agrarian society with considerable number of people going into dry season farming.

The Commissioner said, he had visited about 46 areas for dry season farming in 2024 with the view to identifying the real farmers for possible assistance

He assured that the items would be taken to the grassroots for distribution to targets beneficiaries.
