KANO STATE GOVERNOR REINSTATES EMIR OF GAYA                                                                                                                       20-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has formally issued the Staff of Office to Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the reinstated Emir of Gaya, also known as Kirmau Mai Gabas.

This significant move follows the reinstatement of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

The Emir, now holding a second-class status, was previously dethroned after the Kano Emirates law was repealed by the State House of Assembly.

However, Governor Yusuf reappointed him, citing his exceptional qualities. “He is a man of integrity, simplicity, and honesty,” the governor praised.

During the ceremony, Governor Yusuf urged Emir Abdulkadir to uphold the tenets of his office and maintain peace with his people.

He expressed confidence that the emir would continue his late father’s legacy by promoting social justice in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Emir Abdulkadir’s Succeeded his late father, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who passed away on September 22 at 91 years old.

The Gaya Emirate comprises Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government Areas.
