Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute anyone who obstructs opposition parties from campaigning in the state.
Otti gave the directive during the flag-off of his 2027 re-election campaign in Umuahia, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to democratic freedom and political tolerance.
He said opposition parties must be allowed to use public facilities, including stadiums, provided they obtain the necessary approvals and pay the required fees.
The governor urged political parties to focus their campaigns on issues affecting the people rather than engaging in personal attacks. He also said he was seeking re-election to consolidate the achievements of his administration.
The Labour Party National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, represented by a member of the party’s National Working Committee, Salisu Mohammed, commended Otti’s performance and described Abia as a model of purposeful leadership.
