Cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA have been charged to be prepared to defend Nigeria against adversaries in aid to civil authority.

General Officer Commanding three division Jos, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar gave the charge at the annual battle inoculation exercise in honour of cadets of 70 regular course, direct short service course 27(Army), and 31(Airforce) regiments held at the Nigerian Army exercise area Kachia, Kaduna State.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar who is also Commander Operation Safe Haven, explained that the exercise was aimed at giving cadets a foretaste what they may likely experience as they go into the field as junior officers occupying leadership positions in various theatres of operations within and outside the country.

He charged the cadets to align with the principle of combating numerous contemporary security threats bedeviling Nigeria in collaboration with other security agencies.

According to Major General Abubakar, for the cadets to succeed, they must possess the requisite physical fitness, mental alertness and stamina.

He also advised them to indulge themselves in activities that would enable them further develop and maintain the desired endurance to withstand the rigours of military operations.

Major General Abubakar congratulated the cadets for successfully completing all stages of their military training, and charged them to remain focused, disciplined and levelheaded.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director Military Training at the NDA, Brigadier General Awolo explained that this year’s exercise was conducted in line with new changes in the Academy’s curriculum, which is designed to enhance cadets’ capacity to function effectively as junior leaders in contemporary security environment.

He noted that the cadets have shown high level of commitment, endurance and teamwork during the exercise.

Battle inoculation is the simulation of live battle scenarios aimed at exposing final year cadets to the sights and sounds of battlefields.
