SULTAN DECLARES TOMORROW AS THE FIRST DAY OF SAFAR ISLAMIC CALENDAR

His eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared Tomorrow the 18th of August 2023 as the first day of Safar 1445 After Hijira , Islamic calendar.

In a statement signed by the chairman advisory committee on religious affairs Sultanate council, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu,
says yesterday being the 16 of August equivalent to the twenty ninth of Muharram 1445 AH, the committee didn’t receive any Report from the various Moon sighting committees across the country confirming the sighting of the crescent of Safar .

The statement further says today being the seventeen of August equivalent to thirtieth of Muharram 1445AH, the Sultan has accepted the report and accordingly declared Tomorrow as the first day of the new moon.
