NAVY UNCOVERS 5 STOWAWAY ONBOARD A VESSEL

BY: Sadiq Aminu                                                   The Nigerian Navy has arrested five Stowaway on board a vessel MSC MARTHA due for Spain
The Commander Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT (NNS BEECROFT ) Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga made this known while handing the suspects over to the Nigerian Immigration in the command at Apapa in Lagos.

Handing over the suspects,Commodore Oguntuga Said NNS BEECROFT’s patrol team executed the commendable operation resulting in the arrest of the five stowaways, onboard a vessel -MSC MARTHA through a reliable tip-off.

The Commander NNS BEECROFT Commodore Oguntuga noted that the arrest took place within the vicinity of the Lagos anchorage, while they were trying to exit the country through the vessel.

Commodore Oguntuga listed the suspects as 44year old Effiong Okon 27 year old Ayewuni Daniel (29), Ajagboma Asiko 23year old Adebanjo Ayewumi and 25year old Christian Joseph

Commodore Oguntuga pointed out that The NNS BEECROFT patrol team’s swift and efficient response underscored the Navy’s dedication under the watch of the Chief of the Naval Staff , Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, towards maintaining the security and integrity of the country’s maritime borders.

The suspects in an interview with Radio Nigeria said they decided to leave because of the hardship in the country.

Receiving the Suspects the Public Relations Officer of the Seaport and Marine Command of the Nigerian Immigration service MR Augustine Maisor said that the Suspects would undergo profiling to ascertain their motive .

The commander NNS BEECROFT Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga admonished the youths that no matter the situation faced , Stowaway is not an alternative because it’s dangerous, but rather seek a better option.
Items found on them were Gala Biscuits, sachet water and 7900.
