STAKEHOLDERS ADVISED TEACHERS TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO DEVELOPING MORAL VALUES: UPF                                                      03-09-23                                                                                                                                                   By: Sadiq Aminu                                                The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and other Stakeholders in education sector have advised teachers to pay more attention to developing moral values in students.

The stakeholders during the closing ceremony of a 7 days capacity building for teachers in FCT Pilot schools said values such as self management, social awareness and good decision making enables an individual contribute to creating a peaceful society.

Sub-regional director of UPF West Africa Rev George Ogurie explained that these values are crucial in building positive relationships, resolving conflicts and effective management of emotions

Director Special Programmes Centere NERDC Dr Margaret Lawani and Director Academic Programme Center (NCCE) Dr Umar Kwami said character education programs develop ethical leaders as well as reduces negative behaviors like aggression, bullying among pupils

Some of the teachers who benefited in the training were optimistic about the positive impact of the program, stating that the increased rate of kidnapping, banditry in the society were as a result of eroded value system.
