NCC, NJI ABREAST JUDGES, JUSTICES ON LEGAL ISSUES IN TELECOM INDUSTRY                                                           18-09-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                 The Chief Judge of the Federation Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has charge judges and justices to be abreast with the current issues on the telecom industry with the aim of ensuring fair adjudication in this digital Era.

The Chief Judge disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Workshop for Judges and Justices on telecom issues organized by the Nigeria Communication Commission in collaboration with the National Judicial Institute NJI held in Kano.

He said the workshop is very timely especially with the advancement on the telecom industry.

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola explained that the meeting will serve as an avenue were challenges affecting the communication sector will be delibrated and modalities of addressing the challenges would be fine tuned.

He said the workshop themed “The Adjudication Path in a Digital Era” would play a vital role in building the capacity of judges and justices with a view to acheiving the desired goals.

In his remark the Executive Vice Chairman of Nigeria Communication Commission Professor Umar Garba Danbatta said the workshop was aimed at ensuring fair adjudication on issues related to the Communication issues.

” This workshop for members of the judiciary is an annual event for almost a decade, and the idea behind the conduct of this workshop is to bring members of the judiciary up to speed with knowledge on the telecom issues, so that when cases regarding the telecom industry was raised their will be speed in the administration of justice because they are abreast with the issues.”

He added that NCC was working assiduously towards the review of Nigerian Telecommunications Act.

Earlier the Administrator National Judicial Institute Justice Salisu Garba said the workshop will play a vital role in providing a framework for regulations of the communication industry.

He urged participants to make adequate utilization of the experiences they will acquire during the training.
