INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY: SOKOTO TO COLLABORATE WITH KEBBI AND ZAMFARA STATES TO COMBAT BANDITRY                                                                                                            21-09-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                   Sokoto State Government is to collaborate with Kebbi,Zamfara and Katsina states to combat banditry activities.

Deputy Governor of the state Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir stated that while receiving officials of UNDP and representatives of various NGOs based in the state who paid him a visit as part of activities marking this year’s International Peace Day.

He said the measure became necessary as it is only through such collaborative effort that the target would be achieved.

The Deputy governor said already, the state government has provided operational vehicles to the Nigerian Army, police and other security agencies in the state in a bid to enhancing security in the state.

According to him, this was in addition to logistic support provided to them.

He solicited the support of Development partners and NGOs stressing that the state government is always ready to work with any organization that has direct bearing to the development of Sokoto state.

Alhaji Idris Gobir assured of government relentless effort in fighting bandtry to achieve the desired objective.

The Deputy governor said no meaningful development can be achieved without peace adding that all hands must be on deck in the fight against banditry in the state.
