GOVERNOR ZULLUM PRESENTS OVER 350 MILLION NAIRA FOR 2023 NECO EXAMINATIONS                                                                                                        26/9/23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          Borno State government has presented a cheque of three hundred and fifty three million two hundred thousand naira to the National Examinations Council NECO for payment of 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations SSCE candidates in the state.

At a ceremony in Maiduguri,  the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Alhaji Lawan Wakilbe said the cheque is for the twenty two thousand, four hundred and fourteen candidates of Public Schools who sat for 2023 SSCE across the twenty seven local government areas of the State.

According to him, this year’s examination was extended to seven additional Local Government Areas of Damboa, Gwoza, Dikwa, Mafa, Monguno, Gubio and Mobbar hitherto suspended due the insurgency.

The Commissioner informed the NECO Coordinator that Borno state government has fulfilled all its obligations to the Examinations body from 2019 to date and expressed happiness with the Council has keyed into the resettlement drive of the government.

State Coordinator National Examinations Council NECO, Aliyu Jajere lauded the state government for its contribution to the development of education through prompt payment of its obligations.

He also commended the resilience of the students, teachers as well as the Commissioner for conducting a hitch free examinations particularly at the newly resettled Local governments.

Alhaji Jajere also acknowledged the contribution and logistic support of local government councils for smooth conduct of the exercise.
