By Sadiq Aminu                                                      A total of 354 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers in the rank of Master Warrant Officers are expected to participate in this year’s promotion exercise to the rank of Army Warrant Officers.

Addressing participants at the Jaji Military Cantonment Kaduna, Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Olufemi Oluyede charged the participants to remain focused in their quest to attain higher ranks in the service.

The Commander, who is also the chief host for the exercise, also charged them to justify their reason for participating in the two weeks exercise, by putting in their best to attain success.

While thanking them for their services to the Army over the years, General Oluyede also assured the participants of a conducive environment for the exercise.

Also speaking, Chief of Personnel Management at the Army headquarters, Major General Yakubu Yahaya explained that in the course of the exercise, the candidates would undergo physical and mental examination, weapon handling, current affairs, written exams, oral interview, and drill among others.

He charged them to uphold the standard of discipline, promptness to activities and avoid unwholesome acts during the course of the exercise.

The Chief of Personnel Management also charged the members of the exams board to be objective, diligent and ensure the highest standard of professionalism in the discharge of the task before them.

Major General Yahaya re-assured the candidates and board members that a level playing ground had been provided for everyone to prove his/herself, and that the highest degree of fairness would be applied in arriving at the final outcome of the exercise.

The Master Warrant Officers to Army Warrant Officers promotion exercise is an annual event conducted by the department of personnel management at the Army headquarters to screen eligible Master Warrant Officers and recommend those qualified for promotion to the rank of Army Warrant Officers, as a means of recognising and rewarding hardwork, efficiency and commitment to duty, amongst other factors.
