EDUCATION: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF SEVEN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS                                                                                    20-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     Federal government approves establishment of seven tertiary institutions.

President Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of seven tertiary institutions in line with his administration’s promise to ensure continuity in governance and policy consistency.

In a statement from the Federal Ministry of Education, the approved institutions for which the establishment process will commence immediately include three new Colleges of Education, two new federal universities and the conversion of two Colleges of Education to Federal Universities.

According to the statement, the two new Federal Universities are Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, Delta State and Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, Adamawa State while the Colleges of Education to be converted to Federal Universities are Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State and Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, imo State.

It further explains that the three new colleges of Education to be established are Federal College of Education, Ilawe, Ekiti, Ekiti State, Federal college of Education, Ididep, Ibiono, Akwa Ibom State and Federal College of Education, (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.

The statement adds that the establishment and conversion of these institutions is a demonstration of the President’s commitment to improving access to tertiary education in the country.
