YOBE  STATE GOVERNMENT TO FIX AIRPORT LIGHTS SYSTEM AND BEGIN THE AIRLIFT OF PILGRIMS

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          Yobe State government says arrangements to fix runway lights are the last requirements for all flights to commence at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu.

Governor Mai Mala Buni made the disclosure when he paid a visit to Global Engineering Contractors and Inspectors Company Spain.

In a statement signed by Director Press to the Governor Mamman Muhammad, the Governor, was on a factory acceptance test and Inspection visit, to the company to ascertain the quality of the equipments produced.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality of the equipments, the governor said Yobe state would airlift its Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the next Hajj exercise, from the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company Daniel Randell who expressed delight working with Yobe state Government, informed the Governor that the equipments have been completed and ready for installation.

The General Manager of the company, Mr. Frosti Heimisson, said the company has placed the shipment of the equipment on its first priority list.

The runway lighting equipment being manufactured by Group Technology and Engineering Company, is the only equipment yet to be installed to facilitate night operations at the airport.
