LAGOS-IBADAN AND WARRI-ITAKPE RAIL SERVICES TO COMMENCE E-TICKETING SERVICES TO CURB RACKETEERING                                                                                                 31-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Lagos-Ibadan and Warri-Itakpe rail services is to commence e-ticketing services from next month to curb racketeering and other vices in the sector.

The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali started this in Abuja during the flag-off of the project at the Ministry’s headquarters.

Senator Alkali stressed that this would give all Nigerians the privilege to book for rail services from their convinence and avoid many untold security measures.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Magdalene Ajani who has been following the process over the years said the project is under concessioning with two private companies involved.

During the flag-off the two companies demonstrated the processes involved for citizens to use in booking which could be done through their phones and some designated point of sale.

The concessioning has a period of ten years for the private companies to recupe their funding.
