FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS TO RE-ESTABLISH A NATIONAL SHIPPING LINE                                                       31-10-23           By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola made this known when he received a delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

Mr. Oyetola said Nigeria was missing out on vast international trade due to the absence of a shipping line.

He however, added that the shipping line will not be funded by Government as was the case in the past but will be championed by the private sector.

Mr. Oyetola expressed satisfaction with UNIDO’s commitment to provide technical support to his Ministry saying the Government was determined to diversify the economy by exploring opportunities in the Marine sector.

Earlier, the UNIDO representative in Nigeria, Ambassador Jean Bakole said UNIDO had developed a new country plan to take effect next year which will cover support in the areas of Industrial policy, renewable energy and environmental protection.

Ambassador Bakole commended the establishment of the Ministry and described it as a demonstration of Government’s resolve to diversify the economy.
