PRESIDENT TINUBU ATTENDS SAUDI-AFRICA SUMMIT, HOLDING IN RIYADH ON THE 10TH OF THIS MONTH                                                                   05-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The summit is aimed at discussing and adopting strategies to actualise participants’ developmental plans.

Briefing State House correspondents on the summit, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said it would also discuss issues around counter-terrorism, environment, agriculture, and other areas of mutual concern that could accelerate the level of trade and investment between the Kingdom and the African Continent.

“The expectation, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is that by the Year 2050, our market here on the continent will have surpassed 29 trillion dollars. We believe that action towards that begins now. So the President is going to be very active in leading that effort from the forefront”, Chief Ngelale said.

President Tinubu, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, will also participate in the Arab-Africa Summit to be held on the 11th of this month.

He is expected to champion the course of deepening partnership the League of Arab Nations and the African Continent in the areas of infrastructure development, and the establishment of a new high-speed train network to enhance movements of their peoples, goods, and services.

“Certainly, Mr. President is passionate about any area in which can leverage on the massive population and market. We’re expecting that the outcomes of these summits will lead to very tangible results with respect to increase in trade between not just the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but all Arab narions, and especially the leading economies in Africa, of which Nigeria is now number one. There’s a lot to be gained”, the President’s media aid emphasised

Chief Ngelale said at the summit, the President will also engage relevant members of the business class and captains of industry in talks to woo them into investing in Nigeria.
